Whitby Folk Club

Established 1968

Every Thursday 8-00-11-30pm

THE FRIENDSHIP ROWING CLUB

NEW WAY GHAUT, CHURCH STREET

Due to Whitby’s’ location ‘Twixt Moor and Sea’

it can be geographically isolated during the

winter months .

A hard core of resident

singers and musicians, keep the club afloat. The smallish nucleus of resident weekly performers is swelled enormously during the summer months by a host of regulars, Second Home Owners,

Caravan Owners and holiday-making Folkies who visit Whitby several times

a year. The most notable of these being Mark Cooper from Nottingham who has been to the Folk Club every Wednesday in June for the last 13 years.

We also get numerous singers and musicians from abroad who sail in to

Whitby, plus overseas

ex-pat Folkies from

Canada, Australia and

New Zealand.

We’ve even had one week a fellow who runs a monthly Folk Club in Outer Mongolia !
